Kalinda School offers educational programs for students with additional learning needs from Kindergarten to Year 12. Kalinda School operates under the policies and procedures of the NSW Department of Education. Enrolment at Kalinda School is via the Regional Placement Panel.

The Regional Placement Panel for Support Classes helps ensure that students with additional learning needs receive the right support at school. The panel works to match students with suitable support class placements across the region, considering each student’s individual learning requirements and recommended supports. Through a careful assessment process, involving information from families, schools, and specialists, the panel allocates places so that students can access specialised teaching and resources. This regional approach helps students learn in environments tailored to their needs and ensures fair access to support classes for families across our community.

Placements and review

For applications for placement at Kalinda School, your child's current mainstream public school must submit an application called an access request.This is done in consultation with the family. A local placement panel then reviews the application and makes a recommendation.

A student is offered enrolment at Kalinda School through the placement panel process detailed above. Student eligibility is determined through the NSW Department of Education disability criteria as well as the availability of a place in an appropriate support class.

Kalinda School reviews the placement of each student annually. Reviews consider all aspects of a student's personalised learning and support, including whether or not the current placement is best meeting their learning and support needs.
